after further review and thought, i really don't see how removing a monument or statue that may be truly offensive to a large group of people is in some way rewriting history.. i think of germany or other parts of europe.
you don't see swastikas on buildings or statues of hitler or mussolini or other upper level generals in public.
would it be good for a person (think jewish) to drive around a city and see hitler in a public park, even though it is "historical?

we used to use this scripture to show that there was going to be a future resurrection.
but recently i got to thinking about it.
if the apostle paul was right in saying that the righteous on death would be changed in the twinkling of an eye from earthly life to heavenly glory why would there be a future resurrection needed for the righteous?

JWs would say it was for those who will live on the earth, but did any of the people Jesus said that to believe anything about a resurrection to the earth? Trying to make sense of something I haven't thought about for a long time.
Any one clarify this for me please.
i went to have a look at the jw.
org website recently and i was asked if i would agree to accept cookies.
i don't remember being asked that in the past.

Is it something new with them? And does it make you wonder what they are actually installing on your device to track you?

good to see the caring brothers help establish depth of guilt..
It should be apparent to anyone who has a copy of the elder's school text book. Most of the book is taken up with info on judicial committees whereas shepherding, actually listening to the needs of the flock, doesn't appear until chapter 25 and is so short that you'd almost miss it.
i have been quiet of late, developing other interests, happy that there are a whole group of people producing great resources.
however, i found some old emails from ray franz that promoted me to write an article that answers a question i regularly receive.
it is in regards to the motive of governing body members.
The comment was made earlier in this discussion that the WT / GB says that some people who claim to be of the anointed may be suffering from a mental illness.
This implies that a mental illness would exclude them from any part in the 144,000. But why? If the 144,000 are chosen so as to relate to the experiences of humans on the earth, surely they would have to have a genuine understanding of mental illness as well. And who better than people who had experienced it first hand!
I'd rather have a heavenly government that understands the complexity of what being human means, than a group of people who think that no one can be right with God if they have been ill.
(Not that it matters really because it is a fairy tale anyway.)

Several years ago I had some work to do at a hospital which included being on two wards for the mentally ill. We were not to engage with the patients but get on with the job assignment.
I observed several people who genuinely believed that God or a higher authority was talking directly to them. Several of them were genuinely polite people, who except for their medical diagnosis of either psychosis or schizophrenia or both, looked and spoke like a 'normal' person.
It was later on the thought occurred to me that if you are part of a religion and believe you are God's channel and He speaks directly to you nobody bats an eyelid. Whereas if you are in the wider community and go around telling others the same thing you will likely end up being treated in a hospital ward for the insane for a very long time!
i apologise if this has already been posted.
i have been dealing with family issues and haven't been following every post for a couple of weeks.
do you remember about 6 years ago that kid in the uk whose jw parents took him out of a hospital for proton beam treatment for his cancer and ended up as the subject of an interpol police search?

Well apparently the mother has split from the father and the family, and she is living in Spain where she is writing articles attacking the whole JW beliefs and worldview. Although I am not sure what she is talking about with regards to her belief that the WT organisation owes her several tens of thousands of pounds.
EXCLUSIVE: This is NOT Armageddon, insists mother of young cancer hero Ashya King as she seeks sanctuary in Spain.
this night i could not sleep and my thoughts went on and on.
the result:.
i observe that many jw family members follow the instructions of the elders at zoom meetings like they come directly from god.
When they sign in to their website they have to ✔️ a box which asks "Are you a robot?"
it was amusing the other evening on the local news to see the increase of drinking due likely to people having to basically stay at home.. the news crew went out on recycle day in a couple of areas during the week.
they showed the general neighborhoods (but not the specific houses).
the reporter walked down the street and looked into the recycle bins.
Most grocery stores here in the UK sell booze, from cheap cider to hard liquor. To be honest it's easier to buy the hard stuff because it gets you where you want to go quicker. As long as you can afford it of course.
not sure if this is in the right subject but here it goes.
i’ve asked this question to a few elders and bethelites but they don’t seem to understand or like the question.
to start off we have to agree that jehovah is all powerful.
W06 6/1 24-25.
17. Why can we say that Jehovah’s exercise of foreknowledge is selective?
17 Jehovah apparently chose not to foresee what Adam—and Eve—would do, even though He has the ability to know everything in advance. It is therefore a question, not of whether Jehovah can foresee the future, but of whether he chooses to do so. Furthermore, we can reason that Jehovah, being a God of love, would not knowingly and cruelly predetermine that rebellion—with all its sad consequences—should take place. (Matthew 7:11; 1 John 4:8) Thus, as far as Jehovah’s exercise of foreknowledge is concerned, it is selective.
A bit like having a selective memory if questioned by the police I suppose.... 😉
